Residencies and Fellowships

 

 Pediatric Cardiology Residency Program 

During the three year Pediatric Cardiology Residency Program, the trainee will learn to evaluate children of all ages with both congenital and acquired heart disease.

The trainee will gain experience in general pediatric cardiology, as well as the various subspecialty areas including:

  • echocardiography
  • cardiac catheterization
  • electrophysiology
  • cardiac intensive care
  • heart failure transplantation
  • cardiac morphology

Echocardiography Clinical Research Fellowship

This position is aimed at providing the candidate with training in all areas of pediatric echocardiography such that they can function independently as a pediatric echocardiogapher in their future position of employment. The position provides a combination of clinical echocardiographic training, academic activities and teaching.

 

Fetal and Neonatal Cardiology Research Fellowship

Training in fetal & neonatal cardiology/echocardiography at the University of Alberta will allow the trainee to function independently as a fetal cardiologist and pediatric echocardiographer in their future position of employment. The program provides a combination of clinical fetal and pediatric echocardiographic training, teaching and academic/research activities. Opportunities are also available for individuals with a background in neonatology to train in neonatal echocardiography within the Fetal Cardiology/Echocardiography Fellowship Program.

 

Language Requirements

English Language Proficiency: As a requirement for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA), applicants must have taken one of the following English tests in Canada in the last 24 months: IELTS (and achieved minimum scores of 7.0 in each component), or TOEFL IBT (and achieved minimum scores of 24 in each component)
